Ask any seasoned lash artist about their biggest daily challenge, and 9 times out of 10, the answer is lash adhesive behavior. Because cyanoacrylate relies on ambient moisture (humidity) to cure, even slight weather changes can disrupt your application speed and retention.
1. The Chemistry of Lash Glue & Moisture
Cyanoacrylate polymerizes when exposed to hydrogen molecules in water vapor. Here is how room humidity impacts your adhesive:
- Low Humidity (<40% RH): Glue cures too slowly. Extensions slip or lean, leading to stickies and extended appointment times.
- High Humidity (>65% RH): Glue cures too fast. You may experience shock polymerization (white blooming), poor bond strength, and “brush-off” shedding.
- Ideal Sweet Spot: 45% – 60% Relative Humidity with temperatures between 20°C – 23°C (68°F – 74°F).

- Refresh glue drops every 15-20 minutes: As the outer dome cures, the chemical properties change. Fresh drops ensure pristine bonding.
